Rohingya delegation visits Bhasan Char

A delegation of Rohingyas from the KutupalongUkhia refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar is now staying in Noakhali’sBhasan Char. Where a shelter project called 'Swapnapuri' has been created for them.

Noakhali Deputy Commissioner KhorshedAlam Khan said a 40-member Rohingya delegation reached Bhasanchar at 5pm on Saturday. Commodore Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, Director, Bhasan Char Rohingya Camp Rehabilitation Project, welcomed the Rohingya delegation.

Joint Secretary Naeem Chowdhury and Noakhali'sHatia Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Golam Farooq, among others, were present at the time.

 Deputy Commissioner KhorshedAlam Khan said the Rohingya delegation would stay in Bhasan Char till September 8. During this time, they will see various activities including health, education, medical, entertainment including shelter project made for Rohingyas in Bhasan Char.

In this regard, Mahbub Alam Talukder, Commissioner for Refugee Relief and Repatriation of the Government of Bangladesh, said that the Rohingya delegation started its journey from Ukhia Transit Camp to Chattogram in two buses on Saturday morning under the supervision of the Army. From there they sailed to Bhasan Char under the supervision of Bangladesh Navy.
