Robbery, rape in moving bus in Tangail

A woman who was raped said that two women were victims of robbery and gang rape in Eagle Transport. He said that on Tuesday night, a passenger bus of Eagle Transport left for Dhaka with 24 to 25 passengers from Kushtia. When it reached Sirajganj late at night, a group of robbers boarded the bus from there. After the bus crossed the Bangabandhu Bridge, the gang of robbers on board tied up the passengers at gunpoint. Mobile phones, cash, gold ornaments were looted from the passengers within a few minutes. Then they took two women passengers to the back of the bus and raped them in turn. The bus was kept under control for three hours by turning around at different places. Later, after changing the route, the bandits fled by overturning the bus on a sand pile near Raktipara Jame Masjid of Madhupur Upazila on Tangail Mymensingh Road.

Meanwhile, a resident named Raja Mia has been arrested by the district intelligence police in the case of robbery and gang-rape on a moving bus in Madhupur of Tangail.

Police Superintendent Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser said in a press conference on Thursday that two women were raped but one of them came to the police and gave a statement. The other woman left without saying anything to anyone.

A person was arrested from the new bus stand area of Tangail city on Thursday morning in a case of robbery and rape.

Arrested Raja Mia's home is Balla village of Kalihati upazila. His father's name is Haroon Or Rashid. He lived in a rented house in the new bus stand area of Tangail city.

He also said that the bus of Eagle Transport, which fell into the hands of robbers, removed the driver of the bus and Raja took the driver's seat. Raja told us who was involved in the incident during the initial interrogation.

After the incident of bus robbery and rape in Madhupur, operations are continuing in various areas. Attempts to capture the rest continue.

In this incident, a passenger of the bus filed a case at Madhupur police station in Tangail accusing unknown persons as plaintiff.
