‘Robber’ killed in gunfight, RAB seizes weapon

A ‘Rohingya robber’ has been killed in an alleged gunfight with RAB at a refugee camp in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. RAB has claimed him as the head of a local robber gang.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the spot of gunfight.

RAB-15 Cox's Bazar Battalion Deputy Commander Squadron Leader Tanvir Hasan said the incident took place at C-BK of Kutupalong 2-East Lambasia Rohingya Camp in Rajapalang Union of Ukhia Upazila on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Karimullah alias Karim Dakat, 32, a resident of K-Kupalong 2-East Lambashia Rohingya camp in Ukhia.

Squadron Leader Tanvir Hasan said a team of RAB raided the C-BK of Kutupalong 2-East Lambashia Rohingya camp in Ukhia on Monday morning on the news that some armed miscreants were stationed there. Upon reaching the spot, the miscreants started firing at the RAB members. RAB members also fired back in self-defense.

"At one point, when the gunfire stopped, one person was found shot at the scene. His other accomplices fled. A search of the spot later turned up two locally made guns and four bullets.
