A roadside weed cleaning programme has been started in Uthli village of Uthli union under Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga. This clean-up programme will continue throughout the week in full voluntary labor.
Hundreds of members of Uthli Surya Toran Club, Uthli Human Services Organization, Raba Foundation and Uthli Golaghar Friends Club took part in the clean-up program.
Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ariful Islam inaugurated the clean-up operation on Friday at around 8 am. At this time, various species of fruit and forest trees were planted by the Jibannagar UNO in the open space on both sides of the road and in the residential area.
Md Abdul Mannan Piltu, President of Uthli Surya Toran Club, said that the voluntary organizations of Uthli village have been carrying out social service programmes at different times. In continuation of this, programmes have been taken to clean all the weeds and garbage that pollute the environment and ruin the beauty of roads and various institutions.
These works are being done in full voluntary labor. Jibannagar UNO Md Ariful Islam said that at present, young people are addicted to playing Freefire, PUBG and other violent video games on their mobile phones. He called upon the youth to take part in social development as well as in sports.
Uthli Surya Toran Club President Md Abdul Mannan Piltu, Vice President Abzalur Rahman Dhir, General Secretary Wali Ullah Saheb, Social Welfare Secretary Journalist Salauddin Kajal, Cultural Affairs Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Tela, Sports Affairs Secretary Sheikh Imtiaz Ali, Literary Secretary Anarul Haque, Executive Member Lutfar Rahman Pintu and others were present at the time.
