Road mishap kills two, hurts five in city

Two pedestrians were killed and five others injured when a speedy bus of 'Meghla Paribahan’ hit them in city's Gulistan area on Saturday morning. 

The deceased were primarily identified as Sheikh Farid (28), a fish trader, and Mohammad Badsha (32), a tailor in Gulistan area.

Sub-inspector Rajib Chandra Sarker, of Wari Police Station confirmed it.

The injured  were identified as Al Amin (25), Omar Sharif (45), Ilias Hossain (40), Srijit Debnath (43) and Nurul Amin (55). They  were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The accident occurred near Toll Plaza of Mayor Hanif Flyover around 9:30am.

Sub-inspector Rajib Chandra Sarker said the two pedestrians died on the spot and three others injured after the bus ran over them.

On information, fire fighters went to the scene and recovered the bodies. They sent the injured to a nearby hospital.

Police seized the Meghla Paribahan bus but its driver and helper managed to flee.
