An apparel factory named Shikdar apparels caught fire on Saturday night at Khadun area under Rupganj Upazila in the district.
Eight units of fire service civil defense hailed from Dhaka and Narayanganj battled and were brought under control within one and a half hours.
All on sudden during full working hour of the factory at around 9.30 pm caught fire at second floor of the building and sensing flame all workers got out from the factory.
Locals first poured water heard the hue and cry of the workers and then fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze. The gutted factories some machineries and manufactured garments but did not commit any casualty, sources claimed.
Deputy Director of Fire service and civil defense Tanharul Islam told that the cause of fire and amount of loses not yet settled. Need a fresh inquiry to find the matter.
Officer-in-Charge of Rupganj police station FM Sayed said that the locals' help played an important role otherwise they might have engulfed fire as a devastating pattern.
