Ripon-Arnab pair became the champion in the Independence Cup Badminton tournament organised by Chakaria Police Station in Cox's Bazar.
Sadeq-Sujoy won the runner-up trophy in a hard-fought 2-1 match of three sets in the final. The final match was held on Saturday night. The third place match was held before the final.
The Independence Cup Badminton tournament started on the night of March 8. At first each team confronted each other. The top four teams played in the semifinals.
Inspector (Traffic) Mashiur Rahman received the award of the best player of the tournament.
Journalist M Jahed Chowdhury and Professor Sintu Kumar Chowdhury conducted the tournament. After the final match, Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Osman Gani presided over the function and Chakaria Press Club President M Jahed Chowdhury conducted the award ceremony.
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Tafiqul Alam of Chakaria Circle was present as the chief guest on the occasion. OC Traffic Mashiur Rahman was the special guest. Rajib Roy, Operations Officer of the police station and Mizanur Rahman of Meem Fabrics spoke on the occasion.
