Rights worker abducted and beaten up in Savar

A rights worker named Md. Ratan Hossain alias Motaleb, 31, was allegedly abducted and beaten up by Raju Ahmed, a so-called local politician, from Kalma area in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Friday. The abductors later released him before a police outpost at Ashulia Bazar area on July 31, Saturday evening, when Savar police started drives to rescue him following a written complaint.

The victim rights worker identified as Md. Ratan Hossain alias Motaleb, Organizing Secretary of ‘Savar, Ashulia, Dhamrai Textile Garment Workers Federation’. 

On the other hand, the prime accused Raju Ahmed, son of Md. Shahidullah, from the Changaon area of Ashulia in Savar, claiming himself as a local politician. However, Bangladesh Post could not verify his claim.

Kazi Mainul Islam, Oc, Savar model police station confirmed the matter.

He said, already a case has been filed with Savar model police station regarding the incident mentioning five names in the case statement including the prime accused Raju Ahmed, and police conducting drives to arrest the culprits.

Shahidul Islam, Sub-Inspector of Savar model police station told The Bangladesh Post, “The abductors released him after 20 hours long while we started drives to rescue the victim following the written complaint. However, all the accused already went into hiding, but we are trying our best to arrest them.
