Mahedi Hassan led from the front with a 43-ball 73 runs accompanied by Rony Talikder, Rangapur Rider registered their fifth win with defeating Dhaka Domninators by five wickets.

The victory also kept them in the race to remain in the top four when Dhaka Dominators after losing the match remain at the bottom side in the point table managing only four points from nine matches.

Dhaka Dominators, who needed badly to win the match to lift up their position, riding on a quick fire from Usman Ghani’s unbeaten 73 from 55 deliveries set a mediocre target of 145 to chase for Rangpur Riders.

But Usman Ghani’s fighting 73 runs went in vain as they suffered seventh defeat of the Bangladesh Premier League on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Dhaka Dominators, who have been struggling to survive, begin sent to bat first, despite losing three wickets by five overs finally could score a respectable total of 144.

Opener Mizanur Rahman and Soumya Sarker disappointed leaving the side for only 23 runs for two on the scoreboard.

After the opener Mizanur Rahman’s early departure with 11 for one Soumyia looked to rebuild the early damage with a big partnership with Usman Ghani.

But the opener Soumya Sarkar, who has been going through a tough time and struggling much to regain his place in the national side, could not stay at the crease for a long when he offered his wicket to Azmatullah Omarzai scoring only 11 runs playing 12 balls with tow fours.

After Soumya’s dismal show, Alex Blake joined Usman and also tipped off to play an attacking game hitting a boundary on the first ball he faced but the English left hander could not add any more runs when he stayed on the pitch to play eight balls more.

Mohammed Mithun and captain Nasir Hossain could accompany Usman Ghani for a while on his way to play the valuable innings.

Mithuin score 14 and Nasir made 29 off 22 balls, but was very much irresponsible when the captain just threw away his wicket, as almost single handedly carried on innings scoring 73 off 55 balls with hitting seven fours and three sixes.

Rangpiur Riders, could not face too much trouble to chase the moderate target when they lost five wickets to score 146 with one over to spare.

Dhaka Dominators, though made a great threat picking up the first wicket of Rangpur for only five runs with Salman Irshad trapped the opener Mohammed Naim lbw for a duck. But one down Rony Talukder played an important partnership of 63 runs with Mahedi Hassan to make the job for Rangpur Riders a bit easy to win the match.

Rony Talukder scored 29 runs when Mahedi Hassan blasted 73 off 43 balls cracking six boundereis and five over boundaries.

But at the middle it looked Rangpur had plenty to feel bitter experiences when they lost two big wickets in a very quick succession with one of the dependable Pakistani veterans Shaib Malik and Nurul Hassan were removed Salman Irshad and Souymya Sarker ina span of 20 runs.

But Mohammed Nawaz and Azmatullah Omarza successfully sailed the team to winning target scoring 17 and 12 runs respectively to remain unbeaten.
