The helpless old crippled rickshaw puller of Sitakunda who suffered a road accident received medical and financial assistance as promised by the Prime Minister.
Md Ibrahim is an old rickshaw puller from Amirabad Ward of Sitakunda Municipality, Chattogram. Three years ago in 2019, he fell from a rickshaw and was injured. He was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital Orthopaedics Department.
Two toes had to be amputated due to lack of treatment. Now the right leg is rotting.
A national newspaper published a news titled "Rickshaw driver paralyzed in accident, wants to survive" last Saturday. In the news there is a humanitarian appeal for financial assistance for the crippled rickshaw puller. The news has escaped the attention of many, but it has not escaped the notice of the honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He instructed the District Commissioner of Chattogram to arrange treatment for the old man on Sunday September morning. Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman rushed to see the old patient in ward No. 26 of Chattogram Medical Orthopaedics Department. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mahmudullah Maruf was present on the occasion.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Muminur Rahman handed over one lakh taka to the old man on behalf of the Prime Minister. Chattogram Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Shamim Ahmed and assistant Director Rajiv Palit assured the elderly man of proper treatment.
Besides, 500 packets of food were arranged for 327 patients, attendants and duty staff admitted for treatment in the ward of Orthopedics Department on behalf of Chattogram District Administration.
