‘Rickshaw Girl’ wins PFF award

The 11th Edition of the Prescott Film Festival (PFF) has announced the winning films list. For the first time, the film festival’s judges and its attending audiences have selected exactly the same films across the four major award categories. 

Acclaimed filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowdhury-directed film titled ‘Rickshaw Girl’. It is a story revolves around Naima, a painter of traditional motifs, who breaks tradition to support her struggling family. The film is based on Mitali Perkins’s 2007 best-selling novel ‘Rickshaw Girl’.

The 11th Prescott Film Festival was held October 14 – 17 at the Yavapai College Prescott Campus. ‘Rickshaw Girl’ won Jury and Audience Choice awards for Best Narrative Feature. 

Regarding the context Prescott Film Festival director Helen Stephenson said, “We can’t recall any other time when the Jury Awards and the Audience Choice Awards matched exactly. I consider it a testament to the quality of this year’s films.”

The film ‘Rickshaw Girl’ stars Novera Rahman, Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Naresh Bhuiyan, Nasiruddin Khan, Allen Shuvro, Rupkatha, Ashok Bepari and others.
