Judicial magistrate court of Narayanganj passed an order on the retraction petition granting retraction of the previous confessional statements made under section 164 CRPC by three accused in the Jisa Moni gang rape-murder case.

The senior judicial Magistrate Kawsar Alam passed the order after hearing both prosecution and defense sides.  Court inspector Asaduzzaman confirmed the information.

Jisa Moni, a minor girl, resident of Deobhog area under Narayanganj sadar model police station, went missing and her father Jahangir Hossain filed a case in this regard on July 6.

The case investigator Sub-Inspector Shamim Al Mamun arrested Abdullah 22, Rakib 19 and the boatman Khalil 40; all were residents of Burundi area of Bandar upazila.  They gave confessional statements before the judicial magistrate court involving them in Jisa Moni gang rape-murder case.

But after 51 days Jisa Moni returned home alive and accordingly she was produced before the court to record her statement, and the court considering her age gave her to the custody of her father.

The defense lawyer Rokonuddin told the media that he moved three petitions before the court-the 1st  petition   for seeking  bail of the accused,  the 2nd petition  for rejecting prosecution petition for  the remand  of Iqbal Hossain who was arrested by police after Jisa Moni returned and the 3rd one for granting  retraction  of confessional statement.

Of those petitions the court rejected the remand petition of the prosecution, granted the retraction petition of the confessional statement and   rejected the bail petition.
