A retired teacher of Belpukuria village under Puthia upazila died after riding on a palm tree on Friday morning.
According to sources, Giasuddin, a retired teacher of Belpukuria Primary School and a resident of Belpukuria village got on a Palm tree beside his house to cut off branches of the tree.
However, he died on the tree and was seen hanging on the branches.
Villagers watched the dead body of Giasuddin hanging on the branches of the tree and they dragged the body down from the tree using a rope.
Monir Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Belpukur police station opined, Giasuddin might die due to cardiac arrest.
However, local people removed the dead body from the branches of the tree and got it down by fastening it with a rope.
