Lieutenant General (retd) Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardi on Wednesday was placed on 8-day remand.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka passed the order, said court sources.
Earlier in the day, police produced Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardi before the court and applied for a 10-day remand.
After the hearing, the court granted 8-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested retired Lt Gen Hasan Sohrawardi on Tuesday in a case filed for treason by resorting to lies in a bid to destabilise the country.
The case was filed with the Paltan police station on 29 October, accusinged Sohrawardi alongside MianZahidul Islam Arefy, who introduced himself as an adviser to US President Joe Biden, and BNP leader Ishraque Hossain.
