Restaurant fined for using food colours, stale food

The Directorate of Consumer Protection fined a restaurant in Bogura for using prohibited food colors and storing stale food in an unsanitary manner. A restaurant called Yum Yum Tree was fined Tk 20,000 in a raid at Jaleshwaritala area of Bogura city at 12 noon on Friday. The campaign was conducted by Iftekharul Alam Rizvi, Assistant Director of District Consumer Protection Directorate. He conducted a precautionary campaign in the cloth market and urged traders not to capitalize on Eid.

Assistant Director Iftekharul Alam Rizvi said that Yam Imam Tree restaurant in Jaleswaritla was fined Tk 20,000 during the raid on Friday for using prohibited colors and unsanitary storage of stale food. In order not to make more profit by capitalizing on Eid, this raid was also conducted in the clothes shops of different brands in Jaleshwaritla. Selling clothes at a fair price, giving proper declarations on foreign imported clothes were advised.

He also said that a team of district police has assisted in the campaign by distributing leaflets and campaigning for the purpose of awareness.
