Upazila Document Writers Welfare Association formed a human chain demanding removal of Kalihati sub-registrar (SR) Khairul Basha Bhuiyan Pavel.
After an hour-long human chain in front of the sub-registrar's office on Wednesday (March 13) afternoon, they arranged a press conference and gave a memorandum to the UNO with the same demand.
Kalihati Upazila Document Writers Welfare Association President Md. Nurul Islam Sarkar, former president Iman Ali, Vice President Shajahan Mia, General Secretary Machum Sarkar, Document Writers Ramprasad Basu and Abdul Karim were present there.
The speakers said that Khairul Bashar Bhuiyan Pavel of Kalihati Upazila since joining as Sub-Registrar on December 20, 2023 has been demanding tax equivalent amount from government source for execution of every document of donor-beneficiary.
He does not execute any document without paying that amount. Because of this, the rate of completing various types of documents in the upazila has decreased by half.
Besides, he misbehaved with the document writers and donors. There is no trace of civility in his behavior. He publicly demanded money per document. Otherwise stop the execution of the document. In the last two months, hundreds of documents have been waiting for execution in his office. Donor-beneficiaries come and go back again and again to execute the deed.
The speakers also said that the Deed Writers' Association had previously held a pen break program to protest against the irregularities and corruption of the sub-registrar. The pen break will continue from today Wednesday until the issue is resolved. If there is no remedy, the members of the Deed Writers Association announced that they will hold a mass hunger strike.
