Remittance warriors honoured in dists

Remittance warriors and their family members were honoured on Saturday across districts for their contribution to the country’s economy. 

In Noakhali , the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Wage Earners' Welfare Board (WEWB) organised the programme at the Deputy Commissioner conference room under the programme titled 'July Beyond Borders'.

Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed presided over the function.

Officials of various government departments of the district, representatives of private organizations, expatriate workers and media personnel participated in the programme .

The speakers highlighted the contribution of remittance warriors.

Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Ishtiaq said expatriates are the silent warriors of our country's development. It is our responsibility to honor them.

In Magura, the day was observed today at the Magura Technical Training Center (TTC), commemorating the historic July-August mass uprising and recognizing the contributions of expatriate workers to the national economy.

The event was jointly organized by the Magura Technical Training Center (TTC), the District Office of Expatriate Employment and Manpower and the Probashi Kallyan Bank, with support from the District Administration of Magura. 

Magura's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) attended the programme me as the chief guest.

Speakers at the event emphasized the vital role of expatriates in bolstering both their families and the country's economy. They said the tireless efforts of migrant workers abroad have become a driving force in the nation's development and called for ensuring their proper recognition, safety and welfare.

During the programme, ten top remittance earners from the district werehonouredwith crests, which were received by their family members on their behalf.

Speakers also highlighted the vital role of TTC's training programme s in enhancing workforce skills and the financial support provided by the Probashi Kallyan Bank, which has significantly facilitated overseas employment. 

They stressed the need for strengthening public-private partnerships to continue and expand these efforts.

The event was attended by government officials, trained workers, family members of expatriates and other distinguished guests.

In Jamalpur, a special gathering titled ‘Mother of July’ was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office this morning to honor the guardians of those involved in the historic July movement\

The event was jointly organized by the District Administration and the Department of Women Affairs, with Deputy Commissioner Hasina Begum presiding over the meeting. 

Upazila Women Affairs Officer Kamrunnahar moderated the session.

Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director of the Department of Women Affairs Manjurul Alam, Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Jesmin Jahan, NCP Joint Convener Khalilur Rahman, July movement participants Orthi, Ashfika and Ankhi, along with Nasima Begum, mother of an injured student activist spoke at the gathering.

Speakers emphasized that the July movement was not merely a revolt against authoritarianism, but a united stand against injustice, corruption, misrule and enforced disappearances. 

They noted that citizens from all walks of life joined hands to bring down the oppressive regime, highlighting the people's resilience and yearning for justice.

The meeting concluded with calls to uphold the spirit of the July uprising and to build a just and democratic society that honors the sacrifices made during the movement.
