State Minister for Religious Affairs Ministry Md Faridul Haque Khan said a non-communal Bangladesh was a lifelong dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is implementing various activities under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to establish a Bangladesh of communal harmony.

The State Minister made the remarks while meeting a delegation of the "Amrai Pari Paribarik Nirjaton Protirodh Jote" in his office room on Sunday morning.

The state minister said the government is organizing regular inter-religious dialogues, exchange meetings and discussion meetings with leaders of all religious communities, people's representatives, administration, civil society representatives and other stakeholders in different parts of the country to build a non-communal society with religious values.

‘We are working relentlessly with the guidance of Prime Minister to build this country, which was achieved through the great war of liberation under the leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as a safe country for all people irrespective of religion, caste, gender and language. Our government is aware of those who are destroying the communal harmony of the country’, he said.

The State Minister during the discussion said everyone should be vigilant so that extremism, militancy and terrorist activities do not return to the country in any way.

He also said the Ministry of Religious affairs, through the Islamic Foundation, has been regularly providing training to mosque khatibs, imams and religious leaders. In their discussions, statements and sermons, they make people aware of the evils of various social problems including drugs, child marriage, violence against women, insulting speeches of different religions, terrorism and militancy.

The State Minister said 50 out of 560 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers have already been inaugurated in the country. The remaining mosques will be commissioned soon. Many social problems can be solved by using the platforms of these mosques to provide necessary training to the country's Imams and religious negotiators.

The State Minister during the discussion said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had enshrined the principle of 'secularism' in the constitution of Bangladesh with a view to establishing a non-communal country. Authorities are working regularly to implement the policy of secularism. He said that at different times,  selfish beneficiaries wanted to destroy the beautiful atmosphere of communal harmony in Bangladesh. All need to be aware of this situation and work together to resolve the issue.

Sultana Kamal, Chairperson of ‘Amrai Pari Paribarik Nirjaton Protirodh Jote', MB Akhtar, Co-Chairman of the organisation and others were present during the discussion. Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md. Nurul Islam  was also present during the discussion.
