Relief ministry stops distribution of substandard blankets

“Those who want to play with peoples' fate and do business with the rights of people, our ministry will boycott them. The low quality supplied blankets have already been stopped by the ministry,” said State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman.

He said this while addressing as the chief guest at a blanket distribution ceremony on the premises of Zila Parishad BD Hall in Thakurgaon on Friday.

 He also said, during the ongoing winter season not a single man will be sufferer from cold-wave, so PM Sheikh Hasina has sanctioned 31,90,000 blankets and Tk 68 lakhs for  the poor and distress people. 

He further said, meanwhile, 40,000 blankets, Tk10, 000 cash, Tk 3 lakhs for purchasing children clothes and Tk1 lakh have been  sanctioned for Thakurgaon district.

Deputy Commissioner of Thakurgaon Dr KM Kamrujjaman Selim presided over the programme while Senior Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Shah Kamal, Director of the department Mohsin, Additional Police Super of Thakurgaon Sadar Circle Abu Taher Mohammad Abdullah, General Secretary of District Awami League Deepok Kumer Roy, Upazila Chairman Adv Arunangshu Dutta along with others were also present. Later, he distributed 500 blankets, 400 sweaters and dry foods among the cold-hit people at the Zila Parishad Auditorium.
