65-day fishing ban

Relief distributed among Maheshkhali fishermen

In a bid to reduce fishermen’s sufferings created due to the government ban on fishing in the Bay for 65 days, the Prime Minister’s Office is providing relief of daily essentials including rice, pulse and edible oil to the affected fishermen.

Maheshkhali upazila administration Wednesday distributed the relief among fishermen of the upazila who are being affected by the ban imposed to facilitate breeding of fishes in the country’s rivers.

Maheshkhali upazila nirbahi officer Md Jamirul Islam inaugurated the relief distribution activities.

Representatives from the upazila’s fishing community expressed their gratitude to the PM for stretching her helping hand to the suffering fishermen during the holy month of Ramadan.
