Relief distributed among flood-hit people in Rangpur

Relief materials have been distributed among about 600 flood-affected poor, destitute families in the Teesta  river area of Gangachara upazila  in Rangpur. 

The relief items were distributed at noon on Wednesday at the Kolkanda Union Parishad of the upazila and at the Binbina Char area of the Teesta  River at the sole initiative of Soma Zahid, the founding chairman of Astha Trust in Dhaka.

Zahid Latif, administrative officer of Rangpur LGED, his younger brother, distributed the relief items on behalf of Soma Zahid, the founding chairman of Astha Trust Dhaka.

Gangachara Upazila Engineer AZM Ahsan Ullah and Kolkanda UP Chairman Sohrab Ali Raju were present on the occasion. Each person was given 15 kg of boiled rice, 3 kg of potatoes, 1 liter of soybean oil, 1 kg of musri pulses, 1 kg of chira and 1 kg of salt.

A few helpless poor people who received relief said, this is the first time we have received so much relief. Never got it before. We will pray to god for the wellbeing of the Ashtha Trust Dhaka’s chairman, Soma Zahid.
