Red Crescent sends relief to Bhasan Char

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has sent food materials to the Rohingya refugees shifted to Bhashan Char from Cox’s Bazar.

At the initial stage, food items 

for three months for 1200 families have been sent, it said in a statement.

Those items include 166,500 kg of rice, 16,650 kg lentils, 16,500 kg edible oil, 10,350 kg sugar, 6,300 kg salt, 7,000 kg onion, 1400 kg garlic, 600 kg ginger and other spices, among others.

The government as part of decongesting the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar is shifting 100,000 Myanmar nationals to Bhasan Char in phases.

Red Crescent Society Secretary General Md Foriz Salah Uddin said they would continue to help the Rohingya people who will be living in the river island close to Noakhali.
