Red Crescent distributes dengue test kit, mosquito nets in Ctg

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Freedom Fighter Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has distributed 5000 dengue test kits and 500 medicated mosquito nets to seven hospitals in Chattogram under the initiative of Red Crescent.

Chattogram City Red Crescent and Youth Red Crescent distributed these kits and mosquitoes at CCC Conference Hall on Sunday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Chattogram City Red Crescent Chairman and Mayor Rezaul said, Red Crescent has come to the people's side by conducting prevention and awareness activities to deal with the ongoing dengue situation.  Many people will get free dengue tests because of the red crescent worm.

Red Crescent Society Treasurer MA Salam said, Red Crescent is ready to provide all kinds of support to the government to control dengue.  We will soon conduct special awareness programs in 20 dengue-infested wards of the city with the help of volunteers.

CCC Chief Health officer Dr. Salim Akhtar Chowdhury said, under the direction of the mayor, 150,000 people have been tested for free dengue so far.  The worms received today will also be used for free dengue testing.

Brigadier General Md Shamim Ahsan, Director of Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital, said that although the dengue situation in Chattogram has been brought under control by all the public and private organizations, the heavy rains in Chattogram have raised fears that the dengue outbreak will increase again after a few days. Chattogram Mayor has undertaken a large-scale operation to clean the waste of sacrifices in just one day. Secretary of Red Crescent Abdul Jabbar moderated the meeting.  Chattogram City Unit Vice Chairman Md. Alamgir Parvez, Councillor Pulak Khastgir, CCC Chief Cleaning Officer Abul Hashem, Chattogram Mother and Child Hospital Acting President SM Morshed Hossain, Vice President Engineer Javed Abshar Chowdhury, Red Crescent Executive Board Member HM Salauddin, Mohsin Uddin Chowdhury Faisal, Md. Moshraful Haque Chow­dhury Pavel, Md. Imtiaz were present.

Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital, 250-bed General Hospital, Chattogram City Corporation General Hospital, Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID), Southern Medical College Hospital, Mother and Child Hospital, Chattogram Heart Foundation received the free kits and mosquito nets.
