Rash driving is a term that we are very familiar with and have all witnessed it at some point in our life. But most among us are also witnesses to the after effects of repercussions of rash and reckless riding of motorcycles in the country. It is generally the cause of death or permanent injuries that leave irreversible trauma.

According to a report published in this daily, reckless driving and excessive speed of motorbikes on roads and highways are causing fatal accident almost every day across the country. As the number of motorcyclists and drivers in the country increased in the last two years, the number of accidents also increased at an alarming rate.

It is imperative for the non-metro city areas to be

brought under police vigilance and appropriate

punishment be dealt out to those who break the rules

This does not bode well for the public as each life lost means a resource of the country gone forever. Not to mention the emotional trauma of losing a family member that is left on the family members of the deceased. This problem has been haunting the country for a long time. Despite severe penalties for those who break the traffic laws being in place, people are still disobeying the rules and this is especially rampant in the highways where highway police don’t have the means to find these people.

It is imperative for the non-metro city areas to be brought under police vigilance and appropriate punishment be dealt out to those who break the rules. Experts opine that there has been no visible progress so far in establishing discipline in the road transport sector. The main focus of the road is infrastructural development. Except a few of highways, all other roads in the country have not undergone infrastructural development.

This means that there is ample scope for infrastructural development. We hope that when all roads become four-lane roads, the number of accidents will be reduced.
