Chittagong Zilla Parishad has welcomed and given reception to 55 heroic freedom fighters on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence.
The reception was held at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
Heroic freedom fighter and former minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was the chief guest on the occasion. Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury was present as the special guest in the programme.
Chittagong District Council Chairman MA Salam presided over the function. Chittagong Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer (Deputy Secretary) Shabbir Iqbal welcomed the gathering.
The meeting was chaired by Zilla Parishad Secretary Md Rabiul Hasan and addressed by MP Nazrul Islam, former Constituent Assembly member freedom fighter Mirza Abu Mansur, wartime BLF Commander Bir Muktijoddha Professor Md Moinuddin, war wounded freedom fighter Enamul Haque Chowdhury, freedom fighter Md Yunus.
