Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the Jatiya Party (JP) leaders to be united in light with the spirit of the Liberation War. Sheikh Hasina came up with this statement when opposition leader Raushan Ershad, MP, deputy opposition leader and Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader, MP, and son of late President HM Ershad, Rahgir Al Mahi Ershad, MP, popularly known as Saad Ershad paid a courtesy call on her at Ganabhaban, the official residence of the prime minister on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hasina urged them to remove differences within the party politics and get prepared for the next national poll independently, according to media report. Leaders of the Jatiya Party informed the prime minister that a stable democratic system remains functional in the country challenging many hurdles. So, the people of the country are getting the benefit of the system and positive changes have been made in every sector.

It is good to note that following the removal of Jatiya Party lawmaker Moshiur Rahman Ranga from the post of opposition chief whip in parliament and the primary membership of the party, the conflict within the party has been surfaced. The crack between Raushan Ershad and GM Quader developed as they both want to control the party when Ershad fell sick in early 2019. Later the conflict reached its peak following his (Ershad) demise in July that year.
We think if the Jatiya Party leaders remain united, they will be able resolve their longstanding conflict ahead of the next general election. We hope JP will not wage movement to oust the government rather it will wage movement to show the flaws of the government to continue the democratic trend. The party will also have to create mass awareness about the anti-liberation forces, killers and Razakars so they never come to power.
As the influential persons led by Tarique Rahman are helping the organised evil forces comprising several vested quarters and extreme communal groups incited by the anti-liberation forces and killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and their patrons in order to make Bangladesh a failed country, the Jatiya Party will also have the play their role in order to face them on the streets.
The “ghosts” of anti-liberation forces and killers of Bangabandhu are still on the loose and hatching conspiracies to thwart peace and progress. Therefore, all political parties imbued with spirit of the Liberation War will have to deal the evil forces with iron hand.
