Media and Public Relations Wing of the Police Headquarters on Monday took the initiative to arrest a youth who had been raping a minor girl for long time.
The rapist was identified as Nasir Mollah, a close relative of the victim.
Assistant Inspector General( AIG) of Media and Public Relations Wing of the Police Headquarters Mir Sohel Rana confirmed it to the Bangladesh Post on Monday.
He said, “ On April 27, a Facebook user sent a message to the Facebook page of Bangladesh Police describing that a young man has been raping a child for long time.”
The rapist, who is the close relative of the victim, took the chance of the victim’s mother’s daily office work. When victim’s mother goes to her office, the rapist used to rape the minor.
When the victim disclosed the matter to her mother, she hid it considering the family's honour.
Getting the information through Facebook, we ordered OC Patenga to investigate the issue and take legal steps, said AIG Sohel Rana.
OC Mohammad Jobaidur Sayed assigned SI Subir Pal, SI Babul Akter and ASI Dilroba Khanom for investigation.
After investigation, they came to know that the information which was received by the Media and public Relations Wing of the Police Headquarters was correct.
Later police arrested the rapist after conducting raids in several districts. A case was filed in this connection.
