RAB-14, CPC-2 has arrested Md Azharul Islam (22), the main accused in the rape case in Kishoreganj. RAB arrested Azharul Islam on Monday at around 3:15 am in a raid in Maria area of Kishoreganj Sadar upazila.
The arrested accused Azharul Islam (22) is the son of Asad Miah of Danail village in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila.
RAB-14, CPC-2 Kishoreganj Camp Company Commander Major Md Shahriar Mahmud Khan said the accused Azharul Islam was handed over to Kishoreganj Model Police Station after being detained during the operation. The RAB is also trying to nab Rajan Mia, another accused in the case.
He said that on April 5, a young woman from Narsingdi came to visit Kishoreganj and was raped after having a love affair on her mobile phone. On April 7, the young woman filed a case against Azharul Islam and Rajan Mia at Kishoreganj Model Police Station under Section 9 (1)/30 of the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act 2000 (Amendment 2003).
