Rangpur records 3.47pc Covid positivity rate

Rangpur division recorded 3.47 percent Covid positivity rate as five fresh cases were reported after testing 144 new samples in the division on Friday. 

Health officials said the Covid-19 pandemic situation continues improving amid declining positivity rate consistently during the last more than two and a half months in the division. 

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 3.79 percent on Thursday, 2.48 percent on Wednesday, 2.76 percent on Tuesday, 3.28 percent on Monday, 5.50 percent on Sunday and 5.49 percent on Saturday last in the division. 

“Among the five new cases, none was reported positive after testing 69 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) today," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS on Friday. 

On the other hand, five new patients were reported after diagnosing 75 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 6.67 percent on Friday. 

“The five new patients include four from Dinajpur and one from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said. 

Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,452 as five new positive cases were reported today from across the division. 

The district-wise break up of total 55,452 patients include 12,480 of Rangpur, 3,818 Panchagarh, 4,455 of Nilphamari, 2,743 of Lalmonirhat, 4,645 of Kurigram, 7,646 of Thakurgaon, 14,799 of Dinajpur and 4,866 of Gaibandha in the division.
