Rangpur records 2.11pc Covid-19 positivity till Wednesday

Rangpur division recorded 2.11 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as two fresh cases were reported after testing 95 new samples at the two laboratories on Wednesday. Health officials said the pandemic situation continued to improve amid declining positivity and rising recovery rates during the last four months in the division.  

The two new patients were reported after testing 46 samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMP) Covid-19 Laboratory at 4.35 percent positivity rate in the past 24 hours.

“The two patients include one each from Kurigram and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of

Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr Mahfuzer Rahman said. Meanwhile, no new patients were reported positive after testing 49 samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARM) Covid-19 Laboratory in Dinajpur today, said Principal of MARMC Prof Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.   

Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,781 as two new positive cases were reported during the last 24 hours from across the division.      “The district-wise break-up of the total 55,781 patients include 12,568 of Rangpur, 3,835 of Panchagarh, 4,465 of Nilphamari, 2,764 of Lalmonirhat, 4,651 of Kurigram, 7,707 of Thakurgaon, 14,911 of Dinajpur and 4,880 of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
