Rangpur division records 10pc Covid positivity rate

Rangpur division recorded 10 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 37 fresh cases were reported on Tuesday after testing 370 new samples at two laboratories in the division.

“The Covid-19 situation is improving persistently during the last one month in the division,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 11.17 percent on Monday, 9.79 percent on Sunday, 9.80 percent on Saturday, 6.88 on Friday, 13.48 percent on Thursday and 12.04 percent on Wednesday and 12.08 percent on Tuesday last in the division.

Among the 37 new patients, 18 were reported positive after diagnosing 182 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 9.89 percent.

“The 18 new patients include six from Rangpur, four from Lalmonirhat, five from Kurigram, two from Gaibandha and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM NurunnobiLyzusaid.

On the other hand, 19 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 10.11 percent on Tuesday.

“The 19 new Covid-19 infected patients include 13 from Dinajpur, one from Nilphamari, three from Thakurgaon and two from districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Divisional Director (Health) DrMdMotaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 53,874 as 37 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of total 53,874 patients include 12,227 of Rangpur, 3,593 Panchagarh, 4,338 of Nilphamari, 2,704 of Lalmonirhat, 4,567 of Kurigram, 7,296 of Thakurgaon, 14,385 of Dinajpur and 4,764 of Gaibandha districts in the division.
