Ramjan Ali wins Manikganj municipal polls

Bangladesh Awami League nominated Mayor candidate Md. Ramjan Ali won in Manikganj municipality.

Manikganj municipality election has held on Monday peacefully amid the outbreak of the corona virus. Voters of the municipality cast their votes at 75 booths in 25 polling centers using Electronic voting machines (EVM) for the first time in the municipality.

People of Manikganj municipality areas started voting using electronic voting machines (EVM) at 8:00 am, which was continue till 4:00pm without any break. Md. Ramjan ALi became elected Mayor by defeating his sole rival Nationalist Party (BNP) nominated Md. Ataur Rahman Ata by a large margin of around 29,251votes.

Ramjan Ali got 31,585 votes while Md. Ataur Rahman Ata secured 2,334 votes. Meanwhile, fifteen female candidates were contested in Manikganj municipality for the reserved three councilor posts while forty seven candidates has competing  for nine general ward councilor posts.
