Rajshahi records highest Covid deaths in a day

16 more patients died at the Corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital during the last 24-hour (ending 8-00 am Wednesday), informed Brig. Gen. Shamim Yazdani, Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital during regular media briefing on Wednesday. 

He said that from June 11 last to June 22, the number of deaths in Coronavirus at RMCH was fluctuating from 10 to 13 daily except only four on June-12. But, the death toll of the last 24-hour period is the highest in the last 13-day. 

Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani further informed that among 16 deaths, eight are from Rajshahi district while three are from Chapainawabganj, two each are from Natore and Naogaon and one from Jhenaidah district. 

With today's deaths, the total deaths at the Corona unit of RMCH stands at 237 during the current month (June-1 to June-23). 

He further said 60 more patients have been admitted to the Corona unit of the hospital during the last 24-hour period and a total of 410 patients were under treatment at the Corona unit of the hospital as against 357 regular beds while the number of total admitted patients at the unit was 393 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a report from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of DGHS informed on June-23 that the total death toll in Coronavirus in eight districts of Rajshahi division from 10 March 2020 to 8-00 am on June-23 stands at 768 with 4,992 Corona patients hospitalised among 49,666 Corona positive patients of whom 36,090 are cured during the same period of time. The districts are Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Natore, Joyourhat, Borgura, Sirajganj and Pabna. 

While at the same time, the total number of Corona positive patients in Rajshahi district was 15,221 of whom 9,064 were cured, 502 were hospitalised and 131 died.
