Railway starts palm plantation programme

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a programme of planting ten thousand palm saplings has been inaugurated. The Pakshi Divisional Office of the Western Railway at Ishwardi in Pabna officially inaugurated the sapling planting programme at Majhgram Station premises at 12 noon on Thursday.

The chief guest of the inauguration ceremony was the manager of the Pakshi Divisional Office of Railways (DRM) Shahidul Islam. It was presided over by Pakshi Divisional Engineer-2 Abdur Rahim.

Pakshi Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Nasir Uddin, Divisional Mechanical Officer (DMO, Loco) Ashish Kumar Mandal, Divisional Signals and Technical Engineer (DSTE) MM Rajib Billah, Divisional Personnel Officer (DPO) Abdullah Al Mamun were present on the occasion. Rifat Shakil, Divisional Electrical Engineer (DEE) and Touhid Sumon, Sub-Assistant Electric Engi­neer (SSEE) and other officials were present.

While inaugurating the palm sapling planting programme, the chief guest DRM Shahidul Islam said that the death rate due to lightning has been increasing in Bangladesh lately.
