Railroad construction begins in Magura in Jan: Minister

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon on Saturday said constriction of a 19-km long railroad from Madhukhali of Faridpur to Ramnagar of Magura will begin in next January. 

Besides, the railway ministry is working to extend the railline to each district of the country as per the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.

The minister made the remarks at a programme organized by the district Awami League on the Ram Nagar Secondary School ground in Sadar upazila of Magura.

Sujan said military rulers who came to power following the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family completely ignored the railway sector and shut it down gradually.

After AL took power, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken plans to modernise develop railway sector to build Bangladesh a developed country, he added.

Presided over by District Awami League (AL) Acting President Abdul Fattah, Awami League presidium member and former Abdur Rahman, Advocate Saifuzzaman Shikhar, MP of Magura-1 constituency, Pankaj Kundu, Chairman of Magura District Council, and Abu Nasir Bablu,  among others, spoke on the occasion.
