Five child-students and the driver of a three wheeler survived death miraculously when a three wheeler carrying the students was hit and thrown beside the track by a running train at Baman Ali rail crossing under Jhikorgachha upazila in Jashore on Tuesday morning.
Though the three-wheeler turned crunched by being hit with the train and fell beside the railway track, the child-students riding on the three wheeler and the driver of the vehicle received minor injuries. Sources said, the train speed being slow and as the driver of the train managed to stop the train just after hitting the three wheelers, those children and the driver were saved.
Abdur Razzak, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhikorgachha police station, said that injured children were students of Ideal Child Academy of Baman Ali village. They were returning homes in a three wheeler after closure of their school. The engine of the three-wheeler carrying the children stopped after the vehicle rode on the railway track at Baman Ali rail crossing. The same time, Jashore-Benapole train arrived at the spot and stopped after dashing the three-wheeler out of track. Afterwards, local people along with the driver and the passengers of the train rushed to the spot and rescued the injured children and the driver and sent them to Jashore General Hospital.
The OC said that the level crossing on the railway track, which was crosses the village, was without any gate man that is why the passerby and the drivers of vehicles should move cautiously during crossing of the rail track.
Six injured persons who are under treatment at Jessore Hospital have been identified as Yeamin Hasan Zihad, 6, Tahsin Mahmud,4, Mustakim, 5, Mim,11, Labiba, 7, and driver of the three wheeler Sujon Kanti, 40.
Toufique Anowar, Physician of Jashore General Hospital informed condition of injured Mim and driver Sujon was serious.
