Rail station’s land grabbed

Evicted forty four rail staffs reside over one hundred decimal land just Westside of the central rail station Narayanganj being grabbed by the name of rail kormochari kalyan trust.

On Saturday moving the central rail station area it was found that the grabber made a fence by tin and hung several sign boards in writing that this is the land of Bangladesh Rail (employee) welfare trust.

When entered the boundary found some men and wanted to ask their identity, one Shah Alam identified him as the director of the project. He told this correspondent that we took lease 47200 square feet equal to 108 decimal lands for the rail authority and we construct a shopping complex here that would be inaugurated by the minister and local leaders.

A retired railway staff member claimed that Shah Alam was a driver of a former director general of Bangladesh rail.

The documents of lease papers were asked to Shah Alam and then he replied that all information is remaining in the head office of the concerned department of rail.

Chief estate officer of rail (east) Sujon Choudhury in Chattagram office responded in a quarry  that he is new to the office so detailed information is not available to him.He also suggested to this correspondent that to contact the Dhaka divisional estate officer in this regard.

Trying to collect the opinion of the Dhaka divisional estate officer made a phone call but he did not attend the phone.

Assistant director (land) of railway ministry Md. Dulal Hossain Mia told this correspondent that all information is available to the railway authority office.

None confirmed the information over the land lease matter either lease holder or the concerned officer of the department even ministry officers. Narayanganj rail station master Kamrul Islam told this correspondent that I have no information as the authority concern didn’t inform me over the land leasing of this station.

Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy told the Bangladesh post that she had submitted a written objection to the rail ministry against this grabbing and she also feels this land would be used for any kind of amusement center as we have no any open space in the city.
