Rahi gets in trouble after questioning non-selection

Bangladesh's out-of-favour pace bowler Abu Jayed finds himself in trouble as a Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Tuesday that he will be summoned for a hearing for raising questions over his exclusion for the two-match home Test series against Sri Lanka.

Jayed told Cricbuzz on Monday (April 25) that he felt his exclusion from the squad had nothing to do with his form. The right-arm pace bowler's outburst put the selection panel and the team management in an awkward position.

BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus asked the selection panel to look into the matter. The panel decided to call the bowler for a hearing. "'We will call him (Jayed) for a hearing after Eid,'' BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz on Tuesday.

"It was very disappointing to see him speak in this manner after being excluded from the Test squad against Sri Lanka," he said, adding that they will take their next course of action after the hearing.

Jayed did not pick any wicket during his last three Tests respectively against Sri Lanka and Pakistan while he failed to make the cut in the playing XI despite being a member of the touring party in New Zealand and South Africa.
