RAB raids distillery in Mirsarai

Members of RAB-7 found the existence of Bengali liquor (distilled liquor) behind a foreign factory in Chattogram's Mirsarai Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial City. They have been conducting raids since Thursday evening and have recovered equipment worth around Tk one crore. Besides, RAB has recovered 10,000 liters of liquor.

Lt. Col. MA Yusuf of RAB-7 told reporters in an official press briefing at the scene after 10pm on Thursday (December 9) that he had information that a group of people was operating a liquor mall in the industrial zone of Ichakhali in the outskirts of Mirsarai for a long time. After several days of searching, we were able to dismantle the distillery.

“We have been able to recover 10,000 liters of distilled liquor and equipment worth around Tk 1 crore from this special operation since Thursday evening,” he added.

The senior RAB official further said, “We have confirmed that Shariful of Lama upazila of Bandarban district and Ripon of Bhangar police station area of Khulna district were initially involved in making distilled liquor. The rest will be known after investigation.”

Meanwhile, after the reporters appeared at the official press briefing of RAB 7 in Bangabandhu Industrial City area of Mirsarai Upazila, it was seen that the unscrupulous clique had built a semi-finished house behind the office of a Chinese contractor named China Harbor in the industrial city to make the liquer.
