Rapid Action Battalion arrested a top terrorist from city’s Demra area on Monday night.
He was identified as Md Arif, said RAB-3 Additional SP Bina Rani Das.
Arif, who is hailing from Kazirhat village under Jajira Upazila of Shariatpur district, was wanted in several criminal cases.
We also seized a foreign pistol from his possession, she added.
Getting specific information, RAB came to know that top terrorist Arif was committing various crimes at city’s Jatrabari and Genraria area for long time.
Following several complains, the elite force started shadow investigation on the issue. Getting secret information, a team of RAB-3 raided at Demra area and nabbed Arif.
RAB personnel also seized foreign pistol from his possession.
During the primary interrogation, Arif admitted that he was using the firm arms for establishing his supremacy, extortion and other criminal activities.
He was accused in eight cases which were filed with Jatrabari and Gendaria Police Station.
Another case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station in this connection. He was handed over to the local police.
