RAB-7 has arrested a young man named Monir Hossain (32) on the charge of smuggling the country's money abroad by gambling on an online site in Pahartali of Chattogram city.  He was arrested on Wednesday night from the Ambagan councilor's office of Khulshi police station.  At that time, a smart phone with e-transaction account used for gambling and six and a half thousand rupees in cash were seized from him.

RAB-7 said this in a press release on Thursday afternoon.

The arrested Monir is the son of late Md Abul Kashem of Naya Puskani village under Muradnagar police station in Cumilla.  Currently living in Ambagan area.

RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Nurul Abshar said some gamblers were gambling online.  They have been transacting gambling money through the development of online gambling using gambling websites from online browsers on smart mobiles.  He manages bets displayed through the online gambling website bet 365's "ROYALS788" and "Sanya346" accounts.  The bet money is converted into dollars and Indian currency.  By conducting gambling activities in this way, it has been causing huge financial loss to the country.  Through this online gambling, Bangladeshi money is being smuggled out of the country illegally.  They carry out e-transactions by participating in gambling using electronic as well as digital devices through illegal transactions including prohibited transactions by Bangladesh Bank.  He also teaches adolescents online gambling techniques.  He has been handed over to Pahartali police station.

RAB official said the arrested Monir Hossain entered an online betting ring.  Later, other local teenagers became addicted to online games and cyber crime by showing the temptation to make money through online sites.  Thus activating a cycle in online betting.

He also said that a case has been registered against the arrested person and he has been handed over to Khulshi police station
