RAB-15 on Thursday night conducted a search operation in the deep forest of Naikhongchari upazila of Bandarban. During the raid, four persons were arrested with multiple firearms including rifle, semi-automatic submachine guns, pistol and ammunition.
On Friday, RAB-15 at a press release stated the information. Officials stated that acting on a tip-off, personnel of RAB-15 found out that some armed terrorists were staying in the deep forest of rubber garden adjacent to Balukhali- Naikhongchari road for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. On the basis of the information, RAB-15 conducted an intelligence operation in the area and recovered ammunition and weapons and arrested 4 Rohingya terrorists. Additional Superintendent of Police and Senior Assistant Director (Law and Media) Md Abu Salam Chowdhury said in a press release on January 8, 2022 on behalf of the RAB-15.

The statement further added that the intelligence report, based on the information provided by the terrorists, 4 members of the terrorist group were arrested when the terrorists tried to escape. During a search of the arrested persons, 4 locally-made single shot rifles, 2 locally-made single shot firearms, one foreign pistol, one sten submachine gun, 5 magazines and large numbers of ammunition were found. The arrested are Mohammad Noor, Ping Ashuk Zaman, Nazimullah, and Khairul Amin. All of them are Rohingya citizens and Myanmar nationals.
RAB officials said that legal actions are being taken against them.
