RAB nabs 7,393 frauds since inception

The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion( RAB) has arrested a total of 7,393 accused in different forgery cases across the country since its inception.

Talking to Bangladesh Post over phone on Monday, Imran Khan, assistant superintendent of police at the media wing of RAB headquarters, confirmed the matter.

In the last year alone, the crime busters also nabbed a total 492 persons in connection with involvement in forgeries.

ASP Imran Khan said they will continue their operations against the criminals involved in cheating people in various ways.

On January 23 in 2023, a team of RAB-4 conducted a drive in the city’s Mirpur area.

RAB personnel arrested five persons who were engaged in embezzling huge amounts of money in the name of providing government and private jobs while posing as officials of different forces, said ASP Imran. On April 9 last year, a 

 team of RAB-10 raided a spot at Golapbagh under Jatrabari Police Station and arrested Md Zahid Hasan, chairman of ‘Pashe Thaka Foundation’, a fake charity organization.

On October 17 last year,the Intelligence Wing of RAB Headquarters in association with RAB-1 conducted a special drive.

The RAB personnel arrested one Abu Hanif Tusher, who was cheating people claiming himself as a relative of the Prime Minister’s family.

He was earning huge money by assuring various aspirants to ensure them party tickets for the just concluded 12th parliamentary elections.

The elite force also seized firearms, ammunition and a private car, which were being used in forgery, said RAB headquarters.
