Rapid Action Battalion on Wednesday arrested three people for allegedly conning people in the name of providing government jobs.

Additional Deputy Inspector General Md Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post.

The detainees are identified as Md Abdul Momen, 40, Mohammad Milon, 36 and Abdur Rahman Shohag, 28.

He said, “We also recused fourteen victims who were cheated by the gang.”

Acting on a tip off, a team of RAB-4 raided at Mokktijodda Market in city’s Mirpur area and nabbed the fraudsters, said Md Mozammel Haque, who is also the Director of RAB-4.

He said, “The trio was cheating people using papers printed with the monogram of Dhaka North City Corporation.”

They also misused the name of Assistant Health Officer of the DNCC and faked his signature.

Rakib Enterprise and Mim Media and Business Center were involved in the crime, sources said.

During the primary interrogation, the detainees confessed that they were involved in cheating innocent people for long time.

Several victims alleged that they worked as DNCC cleaners. But when they demanded salary, they were threatened.

A case was filed with Darus Salam Police Station in this regard.
