In a special operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained 18 Rohingya individuals for residing illegally outside of designated refugee camps. The arrests were made in various rented houses in the Balukhali area of Ukhiya on Sunday night.

A RAB official confirmed that the detainees include 12 men and 6 women. The operation was launched based on intelligence reports indicating that a number of Rohingya have been living outside the camps, often in rented accommodations.

Authorities have expressed concerns that these individuals are becoming involved in criminal activities, including murder, mugging, robbery, drug trafficking, and kidnapping. This has been cited as a contributing factor to the deterioration of law and order in Cox's Bazar and surrounding areas.

The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Ukhiya Police Station for legal action. The RAB and other law-enforcing agencies have affirmed that their operations to prevent Rohingya from residing illegally outside the camps will continue.
