Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) has arrested Shipon (27), accused in a case filed against him for raping a 5-year-old child five years ago. He was arrested on Tuesday from Chatri Chaumuhani area of Anwar in Chattogram.
According to the RAB-7, a 5-year-old child was playing in their backyard in Chandnaish upazila of Chattogram on February 18, 2017. At that time, the neighbor Shipon took the child to his house and raped him.
The child's mother filed a rape case with Chandnaish police station on the same day. Following the investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against Shipon in the court on June 21, 2017. The case is currently pending at the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-1 in Chattogram.
It has been reported that the accused Shipon has been hiding in different places since the incident. He was arrested from Chaturi Chaumuhani area of Anwara on Tuesday. Shipon confessed to the rape during preliminary interrogation. He was handed over to Chandnaish police station.
