RAB drive on to tame drug taking in Kishoreganj

People of different classes and professions including the youth of Kishoreganj are affected by the unbridled spread of drugs. The spread of drugs in rural areas starting from neighborhood. Nevertheless, RAB is working to protect people from this horror of drugs. The members of RAB-14 CPC-2 say that their war against drugs is ongoing and they are in a tough position.

In  Kishoreganj district, illegal drugs such as LSD, crystal meth or ice along with Yaba, Phensedyl, marijuana, heroin is being used by the addicts. Despite the anti-narcotics campaign, the proliferation of drugs does not stop; Rather, traffickers are adopting new strategies in drug trafficking and sales.

The responsible officers of the law enforcement force say that it is not possible to control the drug trade only by conducting operations. Awareness should be raised at different levels of family and society to reduce the demand for drugs.

According to the investigation, there are about 200 identified drug dealers in the district. Under the umbrella of influential circles, their dealers sell drugs to people in the neighborhoods of every upazila. Drug addicts consume drugs in public.

Meanwhile, the Gurudayal Muktamanch-adjacent playground of the district town is seen moving drug addicts in the evening. Drugs are being used in the dark of night. Conscious circles say that the teenagers get the drugs easily at hand and become disorderly after consuming them and teasing the eve. A person collects drug money from multiple sources. Drug addicts are also involved in terrible crimes for providing money.

Meanwhile, in an exchange meeting with the Superintendent of Police last Saturday, journalists working in Kishoreganj talked about the terrible spread of drugs and juvenile gangs. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russel Sheikh PPM (Bar) assured to eradicate drugs and suppress juvenile gangs; He also said that there will be no compromise in maintaining law and order.

According to related sources, from January to August this year, RAB-14 Kishoreganj camp members conducted 92 raids and arrested 124 people involved in drug dealing. At this time, 50 thousand 37 Yaba, 206.6 kilograms of ganja, 1 thousand 277 bottles of Phensedyl, 40 bottles of foreign liquor, 275 liters of distilled liquor, 66 buprenorphine injections and 30 grams of heroin were recovered.

Sheikh Salim Kabir, the convener of the Civil Rights Protection Forum, said that it is necessary to find the real criminals in the drug trade. Likewise, it is the conscious responsibility of the concerned parties to modernize and strengthen the legal management.

Dr Sajeeb Ghosh said about the dangers of drugs, drugs destroy the physical and mental vitality of people. Bringing back social values, proper enforcement of laws and drug awareness among the public can make the society free from drugs.
