The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) nabbed  two militant  of terrorists organization  Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), including a top commander in connection with killing a senior DGFI official.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the Legal and Media Wing of RAB made this remark while addressing a press conference on Friday confirmed it.

He said, “ RAB members arrested the two ARSA operatives  on Thursday during a raid in the hilly areas adjacent to the Rohingya camp at Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar.

The arrested criminals  were primarily  identified as Md Osman Prakash Salman Murobbi, 50, head of ARSA's Ulama Body and Torture Cell and Md Yunus, 24, torture cell member of the organisation.

During the  special operation, RAB unearthed a secret torture cell operated by ARSA in the hills adjacent to Madhurchara Jame Mosque in Ward No. 6 of Rajapalang Union of Ukhiya.

One of the arrested terrorists , Md Osman, was allegedly involved in the murder of a DGFI official during a joint anti-drug operation and was absconding.

He was also involved in multiple murders in the area adjacent to the Rohingya camp.

According to the RAB sources, after receiving a tip-off, RAB raided the deep mountainous area adjacent to the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.

During the operation, massive amounts of foreign-made arms and ammunition were seized from the arrestees.

The DGFI on November 23 filed a case against Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army commander-in-chief Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi and 66 others for killing its officer and injuring a member of the RAB during an anti-smuggling drive at Bangladesh-Myanmar border on November 14.

An official said that 17 of the named suspects live on the zero line, while the rest are from different places, including the Ukhia and Kutupalang camps in Cox’s Bazar.

In the complaint, the defence intelligence agency mentioned the Tambru-Konarpara zero line of Ghumdhum in Naikhyangchhari as Myanmar national Ataullah’s address.

Squadron Leader Rizwan, a helicopter pilot, who was commissioned in June 2013 and deputed to the DGFI, was found killed along the border hours after the RAB and the agency jointly conducted the operation along the Konarpara of the Tambru border.

Officials in intelligence agencies and the home ministry in Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar alleged  that an armed group linked to the ARSA for the killing of the intelligence official.
