The Rapid Action Battalion on early Tuesday arrested Rofiqul Islam Madani, an radical Islamist orator, in Netrakona on charges of spreading hate through his speech.

RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.

He said, “We arrested him on Tuesday morning for circulating anti-state and provocative remarks.”

“He will face legal action,” Moin said and added that further details would be revealed later.

According to the RAB sources, primarily he would be shown arrested in a case to be filed a Gazipur police station.

The process was on regarding the filling the case against him.

Aged 25, Madani is known as a ‘child orator’ for his dwarfish height.

Earlier on March 25, Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained him in Dhaka’s Motijheel during radical group Hifazat-e Islam’s violent protests on Mar 25 against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh. He had been released later and not named in a case over the violence.

After the scandal of the controversial Hefazat-e-Islam’s Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque, in a video speech, he directly threated to start armed war against the current government.

He also used highly objectionable words against the high ups of the government.

He was continuously spreading communal speeches across the country.
