The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-11) in a raid on Thursday night at Savar area in Dhaka arrested a capital punishment awarded fugitive accused of his wife killing case in Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj.
The arrested was identified as Ashraf Hossain alias Kamal, 47, son of Nurul Goni, under Begumganj police station in Noakhali district. He worked in a cement factory and lived in the factory’s dormitory with his Sanjida Khatun.
On February 1, 2005 the accused killed his wife and a murder case was recorded with Sonargaon police station in this connection. Narayanganj district and session judge court convicted the lone accused to death. The accused was a fugitive since the killing incident, RAB sources claimed. The commanding officer of RAB-11 lieutenant colonel Tanvir Mahmud Pasa briefed the media over their operation and apprehension of the accused. RAB also claimed that the arrested accused used to lead his life as a newsman and member of Ashulia thana press club.
